Aerodromes & Ground Aids
The primary responsibility of the Aerodrome and Ground Aids (AGA)Section of the CASAPNG is to ensure that an aerodromeunder the oversight of the CASAPNG offer a
safe operational environment.
Development of, and monitoring adherence to safety standards is the core function of CASAPNG under the Act s12(a) and (b);
developing, establishing andpromulgating safety and security standards relating to entry into the civilaviation system; and
monitoring adherence to safety and security standards within the civil aviation system, including within theAuthority.
Aligned with the above Standards Development and Safety Oversight are the main function of the AGA Section

The AGA section is responsible for making civil aviation rules and developing standards and guidance material relating to
aerodrome documents, personnel, design, operation and maintenance, including;
•development and promulgation of the Part 139 requirements for Aerodrome Certification and Operation,
•development and promulgation of the Part 157 requirements for a proponent’s Notice of Intent to construct, alter, activate or deactivate an aerodrome,
•development and promulgation of aerodrome standards appended to the Part 139, and
•development and promulgation ofAC139 and AC157 series advisory circulars, guidance material and engineering specifications relating to aerodromes.
