Offences, Crime and Penalties


The following offences and crimes are punishable under the Civil Aviation Act 2000 (as amended) 

1.Hijacking
2.Other crimes relating to aircraft and assaults on aircraft crew.
3.Crimes deemed to be included in extradition treaties.
4.Taking firearms, explosives, etc., on to aircraft.
5.Search of persons declining to allow search.
6.Acts endangering safety.
7.Disruptive conduct towards crew member.
8.Interference with aircraft.
9.Intoxicated persons on aircraft.
10.Non-compliance with commands given by pilot-in-command.
11.Offensive behaviour or words.
12.Non-compliance with seating and seatbelt instructions.
13.Dangerous goods.
14.Procedure for certain unruly passenger offences.
15.Operating an aircraft in a careless manner.

The Civil Aviation Authority collects information for the purposes of enhancing aviation safety. The information submitted in this form is being collected in accordance with Part 12 of the Civil Aviation Rules.
